Looking for shunning video
by problemaddict 2 inso there is in now infamous "worst convention ever" video.
but there are 2 more i am looking for if possible.. 1) at a fairly recent service meeting, there was a "new" shunning video.
i remember it was from the mothers perspective, and in the end she is like "its been 5 years now......" .

Grocery Store conversation with an elder
by problemaddict 2 ini'm inactive here to the local jw's as i have faded.
i've been slandered and all that, shunned by some but not all, but the elders basically leave me alone.
i still run into to people all over though.

What did NOT get you out?
by problemaddict 2 ini realize this is odd, but a "how you woke up" thread and the personal stories that are told which i know we all enjoy, made me think of this.
in helping my wife and a couple others get the ball rolling, i realized the thing that resonated with me, didn't even move the needle with them.
i wanted to rail on and on about blood, because that was my conduit to waking up, but for my wife it was about shunning.

You know how its hard to get JW's to publicly admit what they really believe?
by problemaddict 2 in...well not with this person.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49vau8xcmsa&google_comment_id=z13lvfhzisrqybs5y04chvt5brmduhcrivg0k.
ht commenting on this video is mad honest.
among the greatest hit are knowing 99% of the world will die, and that she "won't miss them one bit"!

List of "pagan" things JW's allow
by problemaddict 2 inwhat i'm looking for specifically is things that are "pagan" in the sense they predate christianity (or i guess judiasm to cover the ole mosaic code), that jw's allow or do.
the ones that come to mind are below.. rings - rings seem to originate in egypt.
for wedding ceremonies it became a symbol of "ownership" in rome.. pinatas - looks like possibly it originated in china as a part of the new year and a request for luck, and catholics later turned it into a beating of temptation type thing.. anything else?.

The last video in the 2016 convention...
by problemaddict 2 in...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

"Hope for what we do not see" - Review
by problemaddict 2 ini give it 3 thumbs down.. the video starts with an ambulance in peru.
the ambulance people look at an id and a no blood card in spanish.. quick flash away to now and a happy family of a couple with 2 young boys.
all good kids it collages their everyday life, all centered around theocratic activities.

Mass Mormon Resignation
by problemaddict 2 inhttp://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/11/16/456224955/more-than-1-000-mormons-resign-from-the-lds-church-in-protest.
if you consider what triggered this, the policy itself is benign compared to jw doctrine.
while mormons practice shunning, it isn't nearly as absolute as it is with jw.s.
